The websites of several major financial institutions from the Czech Republic were disrupted on Wednesday by a series of distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks launched by unknown hackers. The site of the Prague Stock Exchange (BCPP) suffered a similar fate.

The public websites of Raiffeisen Bank, Komerční Banka, CSOB, and Česká spořitelna were targeted, ceskenoviny.cz reports. Smaller organizations haven’t reported any incidents.

The affected organizations’ representatives have reassured their customers that no information has been compromised in the attacks.

Global Post informs that the hosts used to launch the attacks are located in Russia and some European countries. However, some believe that the attackers might be from the Czech Republic.

This series of DDOS attacks comes shortly after the websites of several major newspapers from the Czech Republic were disrupted in a similar manner.
