The Jester plans to target the Iceland government if Snowden is granted citizenship

The website of DataCell, the donation processor of WikiLeaks, has been disrupted by The Jester (th3j35t3r), the hacker who has threatened to target countries that offer to help Edward Snowden, the man who leaked information on the NSA’s surveillance programs to the world.

A short while ago, three political parties in Iceland have put forward a bill that would grant Snowden citizenship.

Upon learning the news, The Jester took aim at Iceland. His first target is DataCell, the Iceland-based company whose director, Olafur Vignir Sigurvinsson, announced a couple of weeks ago that he was ready to fly Snowden to the country in case he was granted asylum.

The hacker disrupted DataCell’s website for around half an hour, but currently, the attack has been halted.

The Jester says he’s exchanging messages with Sigurvinsson.

“DataCell provides payment processing for WikiLeaks, so they are already [expletive]. Now one of their execs is offering to fly Snowden to Iceland,” The Jester told me.

As far as Iceland’s government is concerned, the hacker says “If the government agrees to his citizenship, it’s not cool. DataCell is now experiencing tech difficulties, I am awaiting Iceland government’s stance.”

Update. It has been brought to my attention that Olafur Vignir Sigurvinsson has left DataCell back in 2012. It appears The Jester got his facts wrong.
