Scotland Yard has also been attacked over the weekend

The official website of Peter Gerald Hain – member of the United Kingdom Parliament and British Labour Party politician – has been hacked by Anonymous as part of the campaign meant to convince the United Kingdom government to free WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

“Mr Hain doesn’t like it when he’s told he can’t say what he wants, and neither do we. Unfortunately we have serious doubts about his integrity,” the hackers wrote on the defaced page.

“Not only was he involved in what amounts to political money laundering, but he was also responsible for allowing Unum and Atos Origins to begin the Great Demolition of the benefits protection for the sick and disabled people of the UK.”

The hackers also threatened to publish Hain’s personal details, including banking transactions, if he refused to publicly state his anti-censorship beliefs.

The politician revealed that he is accustomed with such threats, mainly made by racists and fascists.

“Anonymous hacked my website. Have had letter bomb, death threats and other attacks on liberty & justice in past from racists and fascists,” he wrote on Twitter.

“After targeting of several sites in recent months, latest incident is more evidence that UK needs to wake up to growing cyber security threat,” he continues.

On the other hand, the MP claims that he doesn’t believe Assange should be extradited.

“You attack & threaten me like the apartheid police once did yet I do not believe Assange should be extradited! Weird,” he told Anonymous UK.

“Even the best security will not stop us. FBI went down. CIA went down. Number 10 went down. We cannot be stopped,” the hackers responded.

Hain’s website wasn’t the only one they targeted over the past weekend. Anonymous also launched a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack on the site of Scotland Yard, disrupting its activity for a short period of time.

The Wiki Boat Brazil also contributed to Operation Free Assange. They hacked and defaced the website of Staffordshire Local Councils Website (staffslc.gov.uk).

This isn’t the first time this month when the council’s site is defaced. On August 15, HighTech Brazil Hack Team also posted a short message on the site’s main page.
