The source of the attack could not be traced accurately

On Sunday, the official website of the Pirate Party of Germany, piratenpartei.de, was targeted with a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack.

At first, the Pirate Party’s IT team couldn’t confirm that the large number of requests heading their way was really part of a DDOS attack. However, around one hour later, they confirmed that it was indeed a DDOS attack.

The organization’s representatives say no one has taken credit for the attack. Apparently, spoofed IP addresses have been used, making it impossible to accurately trace the source of the attack.

To prevent its website from being disrupted, the Pirate Party has installed additional DDOS protection appliances.

Currently, piratenpartei.de appears to be working properly.

Founded in 2006, the Pirate Party of Germany is currently led by Bernd Schlömer. The organization militates for the freedom of the Internet.
