A member of Pakistan Haxors Crew is behind the attack

A subdomain of the official website of Tata Motors, the Indian car manufacturer, was breached last weekend by a hacker of the Pakistan Haxors Crew.

The attacker targeted the connect.tatamotors.com subdomain, E Hacking News reported. The subdomain is used for the company’s HorizoNext initiatives, such as the Auto Expo 2014.

“Pakistan Haxors Crew is here to remind you of your security. Our fight is not against any individual but the system as a whole. Should you choose to ignore security, it will reincarnate as your worst nightmare,” the hacker wrote on the defaced site.

“We just defaced your website to give you a chance to put your hands on it before others come and destroy it. Consider yourselves warned because consequences will follow.”

At the time of writing, the website has been taken offline. A mirror of the Tata Motors defacement is available on zone-h.org or via Google cache.

I’ve reached out to Tata Motors to see if they can comment on the incident. This post will be updated if the company responds to my inquiry.

The Pakistan Haxors Crew has targeted numerous high-profile Indian websites over the past period, including the ones of telecoms company BSNL, the country’s railways system, and various government sites.
