On Wednesday, the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Justice confirmed that its website, justice.gov.uk, was disrupted by a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack.

The downtime was announced on Twitter.

“The justice website is now back up and running. Sorry for any inconvenience the downtime caused,” read a message posted around three hours later.

The hacktivists who took credit for the downtime claimed to have attacked the Ministry of Justice’s website for not condemning the NSA’s surveillance operations.

Some users have criticized the hackers for the attack, arguing that public access to legal information should not be blocked.

At the time of writing, the website of the Ministry of Justice appears to be working properly.

The website of the Ministry of Justice is not the only one targeted with a DDOS attack on Wednesday. The website of the GCHQ was also disrupted.
