This is cheaper than bundling support for IE7, the site’s IT admin says

Internet Explorer 7 is one of the old browsers that are still being used by a lot of consumers out there, but both Microsoft and websites out there are slowly phasing out support for this particular version.

Nursingjobs.us, which according to Neowin provides nurse hiring services to hospitals, has found a pretty unique way to convince its visitors to dump Internet Explorer 7: they are offering free PCs to all those who install a modern browser.

Internet Explorer 7 users account for 1.22 percent of the total traffic and giving away free computers is actually more affordable than bundling support for this browser version in its website, it says.

“We determined that it would cost us more to support a browser from 2006 in 2014 and beyond than it would to help our clients upgrade their legacy hardware. We want to make sure all our customers are well served by our new product and we are serious about making this right if our ceasing to support IE7 becomes an inconvenience,” the website said in a blog post.
