PLS Financial Services is notifying customers that their personal details might have been accessed on the company’s website by unauthorized individuals.

The firm that operates PLS’s website made some changes to it on July 11. Because of a programming error, a restricted part of the website became accessible to certain visitors. The flaw was fixed two weeks later.

In this timeframe, it’s believed that only 34 users could have accessed the restricted part of the website which contained names, addresses, email addresses and social security numbers.

These 34 individuals used the website for loan inquiries. However, since PLS cannot be certain that the sensitive information was not viewed, the company is offering impacted customers a complementary one-year membership with Experian’s ProtectMyID Alert service.

An IT security firm has been called in to confirm that the programming error that exposed the sensitive information has been fixed.
