Webroot has announced a new version of Webroot SecureAnywhere Business – Mobile Protection, a product that’s designed to help organizations in protecting sensitive information stored on personal devices.

The new release of Webroot SecureAnywhere Business – Mobile Protection will come with a number of enhancements, including more comprehensive defense against iOS and Android malware, increased performance and efficacy, and unified management across PCs and mobile devices.

In addition, the solution can be used to manage policies from within the administrator console, and the SecureWeb browsing feature has been extended to support Chrome, not just the stock Android browser.

Other key features integrated into Webroot SecureAnywhere Business – Mobile Protection include cloud scanning enhancements powered by WIN services, user group management, alerts for devices out of policy, a new application password and a lockout mechanism, lower resource consumption, and smaller device footprint.

“Cybercriminals are increasingly targeting employees to gain access to a company’s intellectual property, and there is an enormous amount of company data accessible on employee-owned mobile devices,” stated Mike Malloy, executive vice president of products and strategy at Webroot.

“Businesses must supplement their endpoint security with a coherent but simple BYOD protection strategy. With this new release of Webroot SecureAnywhere Business – Mobile Protection, we have enhanced device control policies and device-level security from the management console to ensure employee device settings are consistent with corporate policies.”

In order to help organizations with mitigating the risk posed by mobile applications, Webroot also offers the Webroot Mobile App Reputation Service, which analyzes each app and assigns it a score based on proprietary algorithms.

This allows IT administrators to determine the level of risk their company faces when employees install a certain app.

The new version of Webroot SecureAnywhere Business – Mobile Protection will become available in November. Existing customers will get the enhanced version for free.
