A U.K. citizen has been indicted on Wednesday this week following a 14-page indictment issued by the United States of America indicting him of operating Islamic fundamentalist Web sites. Syed Talha Ahsan, 26 was arrested by the British police for his involvement in the management of several sites promoting Jihad, including azzam.com, azzam.co.uk, qoqaz.net, and qoqaz.co.uk.

The site's content ranges from Islamic fundamentalism doctrine to appeals to defend Afghanistan and to Taliban terrorist threats. The US authorities claim that the sites were functioning as a basis for member recruitment for al Qaeda and the Chechen rebels. In addition, Ahsan allegedly contributed to raising money for terrorist groups by distributing books, videotapes, audio cassettes and CD's promoting jihad and demanding human and financial support for the mujahideen. As a result Ahsan was charged with conspiracy to support terrorism and conspiracy to kill or injure people.

"We're trying to make it as difficult, if not impossible, for people to commit terrorist acts," U.S. Attorney Kevin O'Connor said Wednesday. "If you can deprive these terrorist organizations of money, it's like depriving them of oxygen."

At the present time Syed Talha Ahsan is awaiting extradition to the United States where he will face trial.
