Activision is revving the hype engine for its upcoming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen by releasing an official web-based videogame related to the series, called Battle for the AllSpark V2. Players all over the world are invited by the company to log into the official web site, choose a side and then compete in challenges in order to allow the Autobots or the Decepticons to take over AllSpark and then the entire world.

The Battle for the AllSpark V2 web game allows each player to customize his/her own Transformers character, complete with transformations, weapons and defenses. The robots created can then be entered into an online battle, with attacks and blocks being exchanged in real time, round by round. Activision is also saying that some cheat codes, which allow the robots to be upgraded, have been hidden online.

Rob Kostich, who is the head of marketing for licensed properties at Activision Publishing, stated that “The Battle for the AllSpark V2 delivers even more challenges and fun than before for our ever-growing and fervent Transformers gaming community that spawned in 2007 – we are thrilled to invite fans to join the battle again and immerse themselves in the universe prior to the official Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen game launch on June 26th. In Battle for the AllSpark V2, players can play as an AUTOBOT or a DECEPTICON, picking their favourite character and customising their abilities on their way to global domination online.”

The blockbuster directed by Michael Bay is set to arrive on June 19, one week before the videogame based on it. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen should allow players to take on the role of either an Autobot or a Decepticon as they battle with the other side in a variety of unique environments, using many weapons. The videogame should be release for the PS3, the Xbox 360, the PC, the Nintendo Wii, the PlayStation 2, the PSP and the Nintendo DS.
