Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has just made available for download Weather Widgets for its devices running under the Nokia Belle operating system.

These are some of the most requested features for the mobile operating system, and the company has finally decided to respond to users’ needs.

“Fans of the Nokia Weather app (released earlier as part of Nokia Maps Suite) have been begging and pleading since day one for the release of a connected widget, and today they will have Beta-level satisfaction,” Nokia notes on a blog post on the Nokia Beta Labs.

Today, the Weather widget for Nokia (Symbian) Belle is available for download in a beta flavor. To enjoy it, users will have to upgrade to Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 before installing the widget.

“If you haven't already updated to Nokia Maps Suite 2.0, you will need to make a detour to join that trial in order to get the full benefits. The widget is not fully compatible with the old version of Weather,” the blog post continues.

Two homescreen widgets were made available for Nokia Belle users to download on their devices. One of them was meant to provide a three-day forecast, while the other will deliver the current hourly weather.

The widget was designed to show the weather for user’s location, but it can be set to offer details on other locations.

“When you tap on the widget, it will jump into the Weather app, where you can get more details. The Weather app always remembers whether you were looking at the detail or overview page, so which page it opens onto depends on which page you were looking at last,” the blog post continues.

The new Weather Widgets for Nokia Belle devices can be downloaded from Softpedia via this link. Those who will give them a try should provide feedback on the experience they receive.
