An artist tries to draw attention to the negative consequences of communications mediums

Artist Eric Siu with The Creators Project is of the opinion that communications mediums like Twitter and Facebook have some unfortunate consequences that usually go by ignored.

Long story short, the increasing reliance on technology as a medium of communication is leading to social anxiety as people have less and less direct interpersonal contact.

To highlight this, he built the Touchy camera, which is worn on the head and has shutters covering the eyes.

Unless another person touches the wearer, the shutters stay closed. Once contact is made, though, the wearer is allowed to see. What's more, after ten seconds of sustained contact, a photo is taken of whatever the person is looking at.

Others can see what image is about to be snapped by looking at the screen built into the back of the device (the back of the wearer's head).

The video above shows how this all works. Visit The Creators Project for an interview with the man himself.
