Good news for WeChat users on Windows Phone platform, as developers have just released a new update that brings a few, but major, new features.

The most important seems to be the fact that users will now be able to open WeChat with the help of Cortana. The folks over at Tencent have decided to bring Cortana support to their Windows Phone application so that users can start taking advantage of its features quicker and easier.

But this is not all. According to the official changelog, the latest version of WeChat for Windows Phone adds the ability to recall the last message that has been sent within two minutes.

This particular feature has been included in one of the latest updates for WeChat for Android and iOS, but as usual, Windows Phone gets it only afterwards. Another new feature included in this update is the ability to select multiple photos and send them in chats.

Keep in mind that not all the new features included in this update will work on devices running older versions of the Windows Phone operating system.

Anyway, you can now download WeChat for Windows Phone 5.3.0.0 for free via Windows Phone Store. The application has been confirmed to be compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 7.5 and up.
