Announced for the very first time at this year's CES fair, the ThinkPad Edge E220s is finally starting to arrive in the retail channel and during a local event we had the chance to spend some time with Lenovo's up and coming ultra-portable notebook.

The first things that you notice about the ThinkPad Edge E220s is just how thin and light the device actually is, as it weights a mere 1.47kg with the included 42Whr battery which should be good for up to six hours of continuous running.

[admark=1]More importantly, Lenovo was able to decrease the weight of the notebook without giving up on building quality as the Edge E220s feels remarkably solid when held in hand.

Specs wise, Lenovo's creation can be configured with either a Core i5-2537M or a Core i7-2617M processor which can be accompanied by up to 4GB of RAM as well as by a 320GB HDD, a 128GB SSD or a mSATA SSD and SATA HDD combo.

Both of the Sandy Bridge processors available sport two processing cores, a 17W TDP and support Intel's HyperThreading technology.

Graphics is handled by the integrated Intel HD 3000 GPU and the notebook features a 12.5-inch display with Infinity Glass which supports a resolution of 1366x768.

Other specs include VGA and HDMI video outputs, a 4-in-1 card reader, three USB ports (one acts as an eSATA/USB combo), Dolby Home Theater v4 certified stereo speakers, and a low-light sensitive HD camera.

In addition, the ThinkPad Edge E220s also features Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity and users can also opt to configure it with Bluetooth 3.0 or HSPA+.

Lenovo's ultra-portable notebook is expected to become available next week across Europe, but its recommended retail price wasn't made public at this point. In the US, the notebook is expected to start at $699.
