Users believe that Microsoft should give another chance to Windows XP

Windows XP is 13 years old and there’s no doubt that it’s quite an old operating system that can no longer cope with today’s modern IT world requirements.

Beside the fact that it lacks quite a lot of features which users need these days, its security system is way behind what we can find right now on the web, and without patches and security fixes provided by Microsoft, the operating system would become even more vulnerable.

A few weeks ago however, we heard one idea that could really please many of those still running Windows XP right now. One user posted on Microsoft’s Community forums to ask the software giant to release what he called Windows XP Second Edition, a greatly improved version of the ancient operating system that would have basically the same features as Windows 8.1.

‘So what would be different?’ you might ask. Well, it turns out that users love Windows XP’s looks so much that they want Windows 8.1 to boast exactly the same interface as the old XP, which doesn’t really make sense given the fact that Microsoft wants its new operating system to be installed on some other devices beside desktop computers too.

In other words, users might be very pleased with an operating system that looks just like Windows XP, but works like Windows 8.1, of course while also supporting low-configuration PCs and work on older hardware.

That does sound really impossible and it’s hard to believe that Microsoft actually wants to create such a mix, so chances are that Windows XP would die in April and users would be forced to migrate to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 in the coming months.

But in the end, users must decide what they want to do next after Windows XP dies, so we decided to hear from your whether a Second Edition of the operating system launched in 2001 would actually be a good die for both users and Microsoft.

Here are a few questions to get you started:

1. Are you still using Windows XP? Why? 2. Do you plan to upgrade before April 8? 3. What do you love so much about Windows XP? 4. What do you hate so much about Windows 8.1? 5. Which one, Windows 7 or Windows 8.1? 6. Ever considered Linux as an alternative for Windows XP? 7. If Windows XP Second Edition becomes reality, would you buy it?
