Wayne Rooney surely won the Manchester United fans for life. The English striker recently gave an interview in which he praises his club and states that he is never going to leave it. Of course, that's much related with how his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson will go. And, for the moment, Rooney seems to be in the right place.
"People say I could now have my pick of clubs, but this is where I want to be. In fact, I want to extend my contract at Manchester United. I don't want to go anywhere else. I look at people like Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville and I want to be here as long as they have. This is a big club and no one I know ever wants to leave. I don't have any regrets whatsoever about joining Manchester United. There is something that is very special about Manchester United and I want to be part of it for as long as I can", stated Rooney yesterday.
The striker - whose World Cup quarterfinal red card caused one of the biggest media campaign against teammate Cristiano Ronaldo - did not last for long without being sent off. Two days ago, during Man U's friendly against FC Porto, Rooney received a red card in the second half. Still, he is still one of Ferguson's protégés, even if he's likely to miss the first Premiership match because of his red card.
As for Rooney's future plans, the striker is very confident that he can bring Man U another Champions League title, as well as the Premiership crown. "I want to win everything - The Premiership, the Champions League and, yes, also the World Cup. It might not happen, but that's what my aim is. That's the reason why I'm in football. The medals that really matter at United are The Premiership and the Champions League. That's how it is at a club this size and hopefully we can achieve those things in the next few years".
