Wayland, a protocol for a compositor to talk to its clients, as well as a C library implementation of that protocol, which can be used as a standalone display server running on Linux kernel modesetting and evdev input devices, an X application, or a Wayland client itself, has reached version 1.3.

The developers have just provided a new stable version of Wayland after many months of development builds. A new 1.3.1 version should arrive in a couple of weeks to fix the various problems that still remain.

“We don't have a lot of Wayland side changes this time. I see that as good news and as sign that the wayland side is slowing down and maturing. I feel like the core protocol code is generally useful and stable and does what we need,” stated Kristian Høgsberg on the official mailing list.

A detailed list of changes can be found in the official announcement. Download Wayland 1.3 right now from Softpedia.
