SwimMan has released the waterproof iPod and headset

The iPod mania breaks yet another barrier of reason: SwimMan has released the Waterproof iPod Shuffle. With the iPod headset to match, of course. The iPod is priced at 150 US dollars, the headset is an extra $100. Quite a bargain, if you've long waited for the possibility of listening to music on your iPod Shuffle while taking a shower/bath, while in the swimming-pool, while diving, while your boat is sinking et cetera.

The device will be able to operate under water as low as 10 feet below surface. This is quite little, considering people usually dive deeper than 10 feet. SwimMan has announced they will soon release the waterproof second-generation iPod shuffle in various color options, for an extra fee of $50. It's sold with a one-year warranty.

Still, as much as this is a revolutionary piece (it's not case protected, the device itself is truly waterproof), others have also released accessories like waterproof headphones and various types of boxes and cases to keep your player/phone/PDA intact under water.

People!? Who answers the phone under water?? I don't know, maybe I'm just behind my time, but this is a little too much. What's next, the waterproof MacBook Pro, to immediately download the pictures you took while scuba-diving, when STILL in the water? Or perhaps an under-water video-conference...

Well, maybe it's just me. So, if you've got $250 to spare and you think a waterproof iPod Shuffle is worth your money, you can go ahead and buy one from SwimMan. I've added some pictures; see if you like the design of the device. If you own a waterproof iPod and you're terribly satisfied with it, please let us know and share your experience.
