The tablet market will soon see the addition of a Fujitsu model which, in addition to the more or less expected innards, will have a special outer design that will make it better suited for outdoor use than most competitors.

The thing about tablets is that they managed to carve a fair chunk of the IT market for themselves in a very short time, especially considering that many IT players did not see much potential for them at first.

The Apple iPad started it all, and was followed by slates from ASUS, Acer and many other notebook makers, as well as smartphone suppliers.

Now, it is Fujitsu that is making the news thanks to a device of this type, one that runs Android 3.2 and actually has some (at least one) unique features.

That which makes it stand out is not the Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 dual-core processor (has a clock speed of 1 GHz), even though this does constitute as a difference compared to how many other tablets use NVIDIA's Tegra 2.

What the product really has to show off is the special casing, designed in such a way that it offers water protection.

In other words, owners of the Arrows Tab F-01D, as it is called, needn't worry about the hardware getting fried because of rain or other exposure to water.

Meanwhile, the rest of the feature set makes sure that adding the waterproof benefit is worthwihle.

As revealed in a report, the 10.1-inch display features a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels (WXGA), as well as 16 GB of NAND Flash storage, a microSD card slot, micro-USB, headphone jack, two webcams (front and back) and even LTE support, plus GPRS and GSM.

Japan will be the first region to get it, starting in September, 2011. Of course, this all is still in the real of rumors and hearsay, so all details are subject to change.
