Underwater iPod, again, this time, way better

Electric current and water have never gotten along too well. And since electronics run on current, things were the same with every piece of such tech: when water came in the equation, things came to a halt. There have been produced portable electronic devices for runners and for many other sportsmen but yet one category was left aside: people who swam!

Now, their grief is over as one company has really thought things again and came up with a strong solution, other than bulky cases or plastic bags. Swimman has simply re-defined the Shuffle iPod and its use.

The Swimman iPod Shuffle is now completely waterproof and so are the headphones it comes with: the same dimensions, the same look... only there is no more fear of splashing or actually diving with it. Unlike other similar manufacturers who have tried to insulate the iPods against water and have only managed to produce a bulky case and more splash-proofing rather than real submersible devices, the Swimman team has centered the efforts onto achieving true value to the player.

You can now take your music underwater in excellent conditions and with absolutely no fear! If you are still worried about this device look at the waterproof cassette player picture: there are so many moving parts in the construction of such a player and still people made it safe from water - a chip-and-button device like the iPod will more likely be insulated.

Swimman even offers extended warranty for existing iPod Gen2 owners so you won't be losing anything. Anyway, the package they're selling is more than attractive: for $250 you get the Gen2 iPod Shuffle, the waterproofing workmanship and the waterproof-design headphones to be used in conjunctions with the player.

Finally, if you don't want to buy a new Shuffle, there is no need: Swimman can waterproof the iPod you'll be sending them for $75 plus $15 S&H, while retaining the Apple warranty (if applicable) or running with a 90 days Swimman warranty.

So, what are you waiting for? Summer is closing in and if you plan to match your new swimwear (or bikini) to the color of your Shuffle, now you can even be in fashion underwater!
