The tradition of the Tonight Show is being kept alive by the comedian Jimmy Fallon. After the departure of Jay Leno, NBC is looking to spice things up a bit and is calling it a “new era.”

The new promo video for the “Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon is taking a look at the history of the show since its early beginnings in 1954. It showcases the names of the presenters that have worked to make it what it is today, Steve Allen, Johnny Carson and Jay Leno, to pave the way for Jimmy Fallon.

Some of the more memorable moments of the show are briefly presented in the clip, as well as a long-haired Leno in a green suit. Fallon can be heard saying “are you ready for this?”

Apart from changing the host, the show is changing its location to New York city for the first time since 1972, and also possibly its format, as hinted by the “new era” phrase. The new season premieres on February 17, 2014.

The Tonight Show remains one of the longest-running entertainment shows in television history.
