The MIX11 day one keynote is now available on-demand for those that were unable to participate as well as for the users which missed it when it was streamed live.

Dean Hachamovitch, Corporate Vice President, Internet Explorer; Scott Guthrie, Corporate Vice President, .NET Developer Platform; and Steven Sinofsky, President, Windows and Windows Live Division took the stage on April 12 in Las Vegas.

The MIX 11 opening keynote address is almost one hour and a half long, but it’s certainly worth to watch, just to see all the Internet Explorer 10 demonstrations.

On the first day of MIX 11 Microsoft released Platform Preview 1 of IE10, mirroring the previous MIX event in 2010.

Make sure to watch the video embedded at the bottom of the screen. Hachamovitch and Sinofsky jump into the IE10 demos rather quickly, and they’re certainly the delight of the keynote.

Of course, users can also download Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 1 from the IE Test Center and take the browser out for a spin.

Early adopters that have been running Platform Preview releases of IE9 already know what to expect. Those that don’t should not get their hopes too up, since IE10 is offered as the core platform, stripped down of any features that would qualify it as a fully-fledged browser.

“Native experiences continue to be the best experiences. On phones, for example, people consistently choose native applications over websites. As developers, we'd rather have native support for important features rather than an add-in or a hack,” Hachamovitch stated.

“Now, lots of things lose in translation. Dante is best in Italian. Shakespeare is best in British. Surak is best in Vulcan.

“It's just -- some things are just not the same in translation. And the same is true for the Web. The sites that you visit and the sites that you write are better when your browser runs them natively.”

Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) Platform Preview 1 (PP1) is available for download here.
