The guys from OpenDNS have created an interesting 3D video which visualizes the top cyberattacks that took place in 2013.

The top five cyberattacks are considered the Red October campaign, the Kelihos botnet, the Syrian Electronic Army’s DNS hijack attacks, the CryptoLocker ransomware, and the Internet shutdown in Syria.

OpenDNS experts highlight the fact that visualization has become a key component when using big data security techniques to detect and mitigate sophisticated cyberattacks. This is what the video aims to demonstrate.

Dan Hubbard, CTO of OpenDNS and head of Umbrella Security Labs, explains that organizations can’t rely only on traditional signature and perimeter-based solutions in order to efficiently protect themselves against cyber threats.

In addition to the video, you can also check out the company’s opendns.com/2013 website, which provides more information on the top cyberattacks of 2013.
