Colgate says some people waste 10 liters of water while brushing their teeth

Earlier this month, Colgate-Palmolive announced that it was to implement a new Policy in No Deforestation. It turns out the company is interested in greening up its ways not only by moving away from forest destruction, but also by encouraging its customers to be a tad more environmentally friendly by not wasting water.

To this end, Colgate has released a new ad, available in the video below. According to this add, ordinary folks waste about 10 liters of water every single time they brush their teeth, unless they decide to turn off the faucet and only turn it back on once they are done cleaning their pearly whites.

According to Colgate, these 10 liters that some folks waste while getting ready for work or for a night out in the city represent more water than quite a lot of people in this world have access to throughout the course of an entire month. The company hopes that this piece of information will help put things into perspective, and get its customers to stop wasting water.

Researchers say that, out of the total amount of water that our planet accommodates for, 97.5% is salt one. As far as Earth's fresh water reserves are concerned, it would appear that 70% of these resources are frozen in ice caps. Soils also hold a lot of fresh water in the form of moisture, and many reserves are inaccessible due to the fact that they sit in the underground.

All in all, mankind is estimated to have access to just 0.007% of the world's overall water reserves. This means that water is not as easy to come by as some people assume, and folks would do well to start taking better care of this resource.
