What happens in Vegas might stay in Vegas, but as it turns out, the things going on in the bathroom more often than not get posted on the Internet for the entire world to read about.

In fact, one of the questions people most often ask Google the All-Knowing is why it is that, every once in a while, poop comes out green. The video below, which made it online just yesterday, is here to solve this little mystery.

As detailed by the folks behind YouTube channel SciShow, poop ends up having a weird, greenish color when food waste travels too fast along our digestive tracks and is excreted quickly.

This is because, the faster waste moves down our bowels and on its way to the toilet, the less time microorganisms have to process it and break down a substance named bilirubin.

After consuming this substance, gut bacteria metabolize it into a compound which, after coming into contact with oxygen, turns brown, thus giving poop its usual color.

This means that, the less time microorganisms in our intestines spend breaking down bilirubin, the greater are the odds that poop will come out looking green, which is actually its color when it first starts to move down our bowels.

Indigestion and laxatives are just some of the things that can make human waste travel a wee too fast through our bodies and consequently look green when finally reaching the toilet.
