14 DAY TRIAL // YouTube tricksters Simple Mistifs carried out a social experiment to see how people would react if a black guy and a white guy committed the same crime.
For that, they simulated a situation in which two guys are trying to break into a car.
The first part of the experiment takes place in Little Tokyo, which is located a few blocks away from LAPD Headquarters, while the second is staged on the Hollywood Boulevard.
As you can see in the video above, although the alarm goes off when the white guy tries to break in, nobody intervenes, not even the police patrol that passes by. His attempt to break into the car lasted 30 minutes and no one got suspicious.
On the contrary, when the black guy tried to do the same thing, the cops arrived at the scene after only 2 minutes. In his case, he needed 30 minutes to convince the cops that it was only a prank.
Simple Mistifs do not explain why they chose two different locations for the experiment. It seems that Hollywood Boulevard is an area known to be prone to crimes, while Little Tokyo is famous for its hotels and restaurants.
I think it would be interesting to see how this experiment would go if conducted in a single location.
