Let's face it, spiders aren't exactly everybody's favorite creepy crawler. They look rather freaky, and some are even deadly. Consequently, many people would love it if all the spiders in the world were to suddenly disappear.

The bad news is that, as detailed in the video below, getting rid of all the spiders in the world would surely spell doom for several species. This might come as a bit of a shock, but the human race counts itself among these species.

This is because spiders feed on insects that would otherwise breed out of control and end up damaging the crops that we rely on to keep ourselves well fed and alive. In fact, it is estimated that just one spider eats about 2,000 insects yearly.

What's more, wildlife specialists explain that quite a lot of species rely on spiders as a food source. This means that, should all spiders one day disappear out of the blue, many creatures would likely die of starvation shortly after.

Interestingly enough, it looks like spiders are also quite valuable to science. Thus, evidence at hand indicates that compounds extracted from the venom of some of these creatures might one day be used to treat various diseases.
