Athletes can endure lots of pain, have endorphines to thank for it

The folks at AsapSCIENCE have released a new video detailing why the human body reacts in certain ways when exposed to certain circumstances.

This time, they've decided to focus on pain and try and clarify how and why athletes have a higher pain threshold than ordinary folks do.

The video, made available above, is dubbed “The Science of Pain.”

It explains that, while they are busy exercising, an athlete's body is flooded with endorphines, which take care of masking the pain they would surely feel were they to get hit while doing absolutely nothing at all.

What's more, it would appear that, in time, athletes teach themselves to ignore pain and instead focus chiefly on their performance.
