Earlier this week, one of the most powerful EVs ever built got to stretch its wheels by racing up and down the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.

According to Inhabitat, this was the vehicle's first public outing, and those who got the chance to see it race were pretty much taken aback by its performances.

Thus, the car allegedly reached a top speed of 186 mph (almost 300 kph), all thanks to its four electric motors which have a combined output of 1,000 horsepower. Apparently, this EV can also get from 0 to 62 mph (roughly 100 kph) in just 3.4 seconds.

The vehicle is a result of a collaboration between the European Commission and a Spanish design firm known as Applus IDIADA.

“The prototype should help overcome the current technological and social barriers of electric cars and promote acceptance of electric vehicle technology by the public and the mass introduction of this type of vehicle into our society,” Applus IDIADA explains.
