Nature is actually a pretty noisy place, this video proves it

Those who have their mind set on enjoying some peace and quiet during an upcoming vacation might want to take into account the fact that nature can be pretty noisy before settling on a holiday destination.

The video above was posted on YouTube by the folks at Earth Unplugged a couple of days ago, and it documents ten of the coolest sounds that certain animals are known to make, be it to stave off foes or to attract potential mates.

I don't know about you, but what I've found most interesting is the fact that, when getting ready to give birth, female elephants let out low-frequency sounds.

These rumbles cannot be heard by humans, but other pachyderms have no trouble making head and tail of them.

Thus, the herd knows that it is about to welcome a new member, and prepares to protect it should a predator decide to target it.

The superb lyrebird, which can imitate the noises produced by as many as 20 different species, landed the first place in this top.
