This time-lapse video made it online just a few of days ago, yet it has already been seen more than 300,000 times.

The footage documents the changes the Antarctic ice experiences during two months, and condenses them is less than five minutes.

“Time-lapse of our icebreaker, the Nathaniel B. Palmer, traveling through the Ross Sea, Antarctica. Two months of sequences, condensed into less than five minutes, with a surprise at the end,” reads the description for this video.

The footage was pieced together and narrated by Cassandra Brooks, currently a doctoral student at Stanford University.

According to Live Science, Cassandra and her team shot this video while exploring Antarctica and documenting how much carbon local phytoplankton blooms release into the atmosphere.
