Staying up to date with what's happening in today's world is difficult enough, let alone being primed on the latest in various fictitious universes, such as the WarCraft one.

Nonetheless, while slinging various cards in Blizzard's popular collectible card game Hearthstone, or while stumbling upon a certain non-playable character in Azeroth, you're sure to have wondered just who they are, and why they're important.

Consider the following scenario: following a massive earthquake, everyone starts freaking out, muttering that Deathwing has returned. You wouldn't want to shame yourself by telling people to pipe down, you've got the More Dots! Onyxia achievement, and Sartharion with three adds was a breeze, so how bad can another dragon be?

World of Warcraft is ten years old, and the WarCraft series is twice that, and its lore is big enough to make even George R. R. Martin or Tolkien head to Wikipedia to catch up on its intricacies.

Fortunately, an enthusiastic historian put together a nice little video for his popular YouTube channel, delving into the huge story behind Blizzard's biggest games, delivering a 40-minute narrative, complete with relevant imagery from World of Warcraft.

In fact, his channel is full of videos dedicated to World of Warcraft and the events of the WarCraft universe in general, as well as footage from the Warlords of Draenor beta test, including dungeons and exploration vids.

His newest video though is the most useful of them all, as it outlines the main events in the history of WarCraft, from start to finish, acting like a crash course in the universe's lore.

He starts with the creation of the universe, then proceeds to reveal the events that lead to the first war between orcs and humans, from the first WarCraft real-time strategy game, then goes through pretty much everything that happened over the course of the two following games, WarCraft 2 and 3, complete with their expansions, Tides of Darkness and The Frozen Throne.

He then moves on to World of Warcraft, introducing all the major characters in the story and explaining the motivation of the various factions that you might have come across during your adventures in Azeroth and Outland, including some speculation regarding the possible bosses that you'll have to defeat in the upcoming expansion, Warlords of Draenor.

The upcoming expansion is the fifth for Blizzard's long-standing massively multiplayer online role-playing game, and it's due out sometime later this year, most likely around November, when the game celebrates its tenth anniversary.
