Earlier this year, during the Rio+20 Earth Summit, UN-Habitat (i.e. an UN agency dealing with promoting sustainable urban development) launched its “I'm a City Changer” campaign.

The end goal for this campaign is that of greening up cities all throughout the world, simply by convincing more citizens to actively get involved in on-going environmental projects and even take initiatives in implementing new ones.

This video is meant to raise awareness with respect to what will happen if urban areas are not soon transformed in such ways that they can meet the requirements of the ever-growing population without putting too much stress on existing resources.

“Nowadays more than half of the population resides in urban areas and we are living a unique phenomenon of urban population increase."

"Cities should not be considered as problems; cities are the opportunities to face global challenges,” argued the report released when this campaign first made its debut.
