Valentine's Day is right around the corner, chances are some people are thinking about buying themselves a love potion

Yet another annual celebration of love will soon be upon us. That's right, I'm talking about Valentine's Day and all the plushy toys and boxes of chocolate that come with it.

The thing about Valentine's Day is that, whenever this holiday comes around, some guys and gals let themselves be persuaded to buy love potions. You know, to have an easier time finding their better half.

Well, just in case some of you had doubts about it, it must be said that love potions do not work. True, we humans rely on chemistry when romancing each other, like pretty much all other species do.

However, as detailed in the video below, the signals we use are too complex to be bottled up. Hence, most of the so-called love potions now on the market actually contain pig pheromones.

Admittedly, we humans and pigs aren't all that different, both anatomically and genetically speaking. Still, the fact of the matter is that pig pheromones have no effect on us whatsoever.

Otherwise put, there is no way the chemical signals that pigs use to woo each other and start passionate love affairs could ever help us find love or at least somebody to share a cupcake with this Valentine's Day.
