The geographic, the magnetic and the geomagnetic north poles have different locations

Most people think they've got the geography of our planet all figured out. The North Pole sits at the top of the Earth, the South Pole sits at the bottom, continents and oceans go in between.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but things are a bit more complicated.

The video above explains that our planet has not one, but three North Poles: the geographic one, the magnetic one and the geomagnetic one.

What's interesting is that, contrary to expectations, these three poles have different locations. Furthermore, neither the geographic nor the magnetic North Pole stays in the same place for a very long period of time.

I sure hope Santa's reindeers take the time to watch this video. Otherwise, trying to get back to their home after they're done helping Santa deliver presents next Christmas Eve will definitely prove the adventure of a lifetime.
