Because the reference cooler just isn't fancy or efficient enough

EVGA, like more or less every other graphics card OEM out there, has its own ideas for what a competent cooling module is.

Some companies use coolers made by others, but EVGA likes to make its own.

Case in point, the company has put together a new one for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 700 series.

Or rather, the company has released a teaser video of one. The product hasn't been actually released, and won't come out until the 23rd of the month (May 2013).

Coincidentally, that is when the GeForce GTX 780 is supposed to make its debut.

The cooler may or may not be better than the DirectCU, TwinFrozr, JetStream and WindForce.

All in all, I can definitely tell that by the time EVGA is done with the GTX 780, it won't look like this anymore.
