Although there's no denying the fact that TV has become pretty old fashioned in this day and age there are still times when you would give anything just to be able to watch your favorite show or sporting event, so the tizi TV hotspot for iPhone and iPad comes as great news for all you TV affectionados out there.

Built by equinux, the tizi will first be released in Europe, coming with an integrated DVB-T/DTT/TNT tuner that will be able to deliver TV content to all Apple devices that run iOS 4 like the iPhone (3GS and 4), iPod touch (4th Gen., 3rd Gen, 32 GB), the iPad being also added to the compatibility list although it runs iOS 3.2.

Featuring a small and compact design, this device will actually stream TV content trough a WiFi connection, the tizi coming with its own battery that can run up to 3.5 hours without needing a recharge, enough time for you to watch a TV show or your favorite sporting event while on the road.

Once depleted, the battery can be recharged via USB, during use a LED status light displaying the remaining battery level.

"With tizi equinux is once again at the forefront of innovation in the Apple arena.

tizi represents state-of-the-art technology in both hardware and software," says equinux CEO Till Schadde.

"For us tizi is a strategic expansion of our product range in the iPhone and iPad accessory arena, next to our existing consumer software and enterprise-level solutions."

The tizi is available starting today for €149.95, the iPhone and iPad app coming free of charge to all tizi owners via the company's website.

Considering the price, I would say that one will have to be particularly keen on watching TV if it was to part with that much money in order to buy a tizi.

No words on availability outside of Europe just yet, but I wouldn't get my hopes up on this picking up ATSC or ISDB-T support in the near future.
