The gorgeous time-lapse below is now making rounds on the Internet, and, truth be told, it really isn't all that difficult to figure out how and why it ended up being bounced back and forth among members of the online community.

Simply put, life in North Korea is pretty much an enigma these days. Hence, there aren't all that many people who can pass up an opportunity to get a sneak peek at what people in this country are up to on a regular day.

The video, initially available on Vimeo, is the brainchild of JT Singh, a branding specialist focused on cities, and Rob Whitworth, a time-lapse film-maker, and it documents day to day life in North Korea's capital city, Pyongyang.

JT Singh and Rob Whitworth were not free to do whatever they wanted when working on this video. They were followed around by guides, who made sure they did not film construction sites, undeveloped locations, or military personnel.

Still, the filmmakers say that they enjoyed way more freedom than the roughly 6,000 people that manage to travel to North Korea as tourists on a yearly basis.

Since the city of Pyongyang is chiefly known from government-issued photos, the fact that JT Singh and Rob Whitworth were given complete editorial control when making this time-lapse is quite surprising.
