Greenpeace picks on Coca-Cola for their not caring about Australia's seabirds
Greenpeace picks on Coca-Cola for their not caring about Australia's seabirds

I dare say I've had my fair share of shocking ads up until now, yet the video below truly is the icing on this month's cake of green-oriented campaigns.

The video was pieced together by Greenpeace, who is now desperate to save Australia's seabirds from the plastic pollution threatening their long-term survival.

“Up to a third of marine plastic pollution comes from the drinks industry. The problem is so severe that two-thirds of Australian marine birds are estimated to be affected by plastics. Many of them die as a result,” the organization says.

“Despite this, beverage producers led by Coca-Cola have stopped effective government action across Australia and have even taken the Northern Territory Government to court over their scheme which has already seen increased recycling rates,” it later adds.

As conservationists explain, seabirds often confuse plastic debris with food and eat it. The plastic then gets stuck in their stomach, causing them to die a slow and rather painful death.
