Just in case anyone had any doubt that being a scientist is incredibly cool and entertaining, here is further proof that this is indeed the case.

The video above details how, in an attempt to better understand how hurricanes form and change in time, researchers at the University of Miami in the Unites States are now busy recreating them indoors.

As explained in the video, their goal is to figure out what makes hurricanes intensify.

Besides, they hope the information they collect during these experiments will make it possible for them to better predict how one hurricane or another will behave once it makes landfall.

Presently, the hurricanes that are being recreated indoors are not very scary ones. However, the researchers say it will probably not be long until they manage to recreate a category 5 one.

Here's hoping they'll bring their umbrellas to work the day this happens.
