The bicycle reportedly reached a speed of 163 miles per hour (263 km/h)

If you think rockets can only be used to send things and people into outer space, guess again: they can also be attached to bicycles and used to get around at amazing speeds.

The footage shows French cyclist François Gissy reaching the speed of 163 miles per hour (that's 263 km/h) while riding a bike that has a rocket attached to it.

Mashable says that, all things considered, François Gissy managed to set a new world record.

As fun as the idea of strapping a rocket to a bicycle may appear, I have to admit that it all sounds a tad useless to me.

I mean, if you want to ride a two-wheeler at stunning speeds, why not buy a motorcycle in the first place and save yourself all this conundrum?
