Just yesterday, the Snow Leopard Trust posted the video below on YouTube, and I could not help but share it with you. The footage was shot in India and shows a rare snow leopard sitting on what appears to be the edge of a cliff or a very steep slope and admiring the view.

As reported on several occasions, the International Union for Conservation of Nature presently considers this species of felines to be an endangered one.

Thus, wildlife researchers estimate that the world is now home to just 4,000 – 6,400 snow leopards. Of these, about 2,500 are believed to be able to breed in the wild.

The species is native to Central and South Asia and is documented to inhabit both alpine and sub-alpine zones. The felines are said to be loners, meaning that they prefer living alone to keeping each other company.

Specialists say that snow leopards only get together to breed, and that females take care of raising a new generation all by themselves.

Interesting enough, it appears that snow leopards are not picky eaters. On the contrary, they kill and feast on prey that is either three times their body size or on small animals such as birds and hares.
