For some people, the best day of their lives was the day they got access to free water

This might come as a bit of a shock to people living in developed countries, but, for some folks, the best day of their lives was not the day they got married, graduated, landed the coolest job ever or learned how to walk.

On the contrary, in the case of people living in poor regions, it can happen that the day that they will not all that easily forget is the day that they finally get access to safe water.

The video above made it online yesterday, when it was shared with internauts by the folks at water.org.

It was released as a means to raise awareness about the fact that, in this day and age, access to clean water is still an issue in many parts of the world.

It is part and parcel of preparations to celebrate this year's Water Day on March 22, and I for one like to think of it as a reminder not to take water for granted.

“The moment that gave you so much joy you couldn't help but jump up and down. The time you were so inspired by hope it brought tears to your eyes.”

“The day you said you would remember forever. We honor these special moments as we celebrate Water Day 2014, because, for many, the day they get access to safe water is one they will never forget,” the folks behind the video explain.
