Each year, on February 2, i.e. a day more commonly referred to as Groundhog Day, Punxsutawney Phil more-or-less willingly emerges from his burrow in Philadelphia, US, and goes looking for his shadow.

If he sees it, that means that winter will stick around for a while longer. If he doesn't, that means that folks can rejoice at the thought that an early spring is on its way.

This year, Punxsutawney Phil greeted his fans bright and early in the morning, at precisely 7:28, and announced that there would be six more weeks of winter.

“A Super Bowl winner I will not predict, but my weather forecast you cannot contradict. Why that's not a football but my shadow I see, it's six more weeks of winter it must be!” his prediction went.

The gloomy forecast was caught on camera, and is made available to you in the video above.

In case anyone was wondering, this prediction was Punxsutawney Phil's 128th.
