There are a lot of people in this world who absolutely dread having to use a bathroom other than the one concealed inside their own home, and pretty much all of them say that what worries them is the fact that they might get sick.

As it turns out, public bathrooms are considerably cleaner and safer than most people assume, provided that they pass the so-called sight test, i.e. seeing them does not make you want to run and hide.

The video below was posted on YouTube by the folks at AsapSCIENCE just a couple of days ago, and it tackles some of the myths surrounding public bathrooms. Fair warning: you probably believe some of these myths yourself.

I don't want to ruin your fun watching the video, so I'll try to refrain myself from writing down any spoilers. I will, however, say this: if you take the time to cover the seat with toilet paper, you might want to stop doing it.

If you're a fan of hovering, on the other hand, you should know that, apart from getting some exercise, this does not really help keep you safe from contamination.

Check out the video to learn why, and do share your thoughts on it in the comments section.
