Pigs are intelligent creatures, can even learn how to play video games

Pigs are very intelligent creatures, can learn how to play video games and there is no reason why they could not be our friends, the folks at Farm Sanctuary think.

The problem is that, when killed and turned into hamburgers, sausages and whatnot, pigs can no longer show off their intelligence. Besides, they can no longer play video games or be anyone's friends.

The video below made it online this past March 25, and members and supporters of Farm Sanctuary hope that this animation will help encourage more people to embrace a meatless diet.

The video doesn't just go on and on about how pigs are absolutely marvelous and should therefore be treated just as well as cats and dogs are.

On the contrary, it also references a study whose findings were published back in 1997 and which showed that, as surprising as this may sound, pigs pick up video games just as fast as chimpanzees do.

Since few (hopefully nobody) in this world would ever dream about eating a chimpanzee, there is no reason why pigs should not be extended the same courtesy and be kept safe from slaughterhouses.

If this video doesn't make you at least consider the possibility of giving up meat, you should probably know that, according to recent investigations, livestock puts loads of greenhouse gas emissions into our planet's atmosphere on a yearly basis.
