I wasn’t the only one left somewhat unimpressed by the first trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s latest film, the CGI-packed “Pacific Rim.” Perhaps the new trailer with commentary from the director should help.

Check it out here in full but *be warned that possible spoilers are included in it.

Del Toro’s most recent film has been described as a combination of “Transformers,” “Cloverfied” and pretty much any other Hollywood blockbuster to have come out these past couple of years after the first trailer came out.

This new video should make things right again, at least partially.

“Pacific Rim” sees mankind threatened by the biggest danger ever: giant monsters risen from the sea. To kill them, man creates giant man-manned robots, thus paving the way for a confrontation of such magnitude as has never been experienced in recent films.

“Pacific Rim” will be out in 3D on July 12, 2013.
