14 DAY TRIAL // There was no time to break a smile in “Pacific Rim” because, as you probably know, the Kaiju were thisclose to destroying our planet and only a few brave men stood between them and total extinction. However, the cast did have a blast while making it.
Below is a gag reel from the set of Guillermo del Toro’s most recent movie, uncovered by io9. It is probably an extra from a DVD / Blu-Ray release and it’s unexpectedly funny.
Starring Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba as leads, “Pacific Rim” was described at the time it came out as a huge action movie with a heart. It was a first in terms of pitting giant monsters against giant robots and, partly because of this, made a fortune at the box office.
With a huge budget from Warner Bros., the film was shot almost entirely using green screens, which becomes very obvious in the gag reel below.
