Disney’s new film will be out in theaters this March and, with some help from esteemed director Sam Raimi, hopefully offer a background for L. Frank Baum’s character.
In this sense, “Oz the Great and Powerful” is a prequel, if you will, in that it aims to explain how the wizard got to Oz and how he became as powerful as he is.
“When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot — fame and fortune are his for the taking — that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting,” reads a short synopsis of the film.
“Oz” will be out in 3D.
